Practicing Somatic Performance _ Dance of the Present

This 2-year project is for dancers who want to move from ‘being in the body’ and who want to grow beyond what seems natural. The project is an in-service training course, but above all has a research character. Seeing and being seen leads beyond the studio work into other and public spaces.

In the 5th module we deal with the body as a liminal place. Liminal means: not a permanent place. Even for this reason, the body is a sensitive instrument for perceiving and shaping change. The endocrine, hormone- and peptide-producing glands, comparable to the chakras, regulate the transformation in our body and consciousness in sensations and expressions.

A cooperation between the Tanz- und Theaterwerkstatt in Ludwigsburg [ DE ] and SubsTanz in Trogen [ CH ].
It is very possible to attend a single module. Few places still available!

This seminar has been recognized as educational leave!

The in-service training course “Ecosomatics – sentient Being in sentient Worlds” introduces a new somatic and artistic practice that aims to deepen our relationship to all living things and strengthen our own actions in the world.

The training is spread over 5 modules in the period 2025 – 2027. This module is the third with the topic of water. This module can be taken individually or as part of the training course.

The organization is in the hands of the Akademie am Meer on Sylt. Wilma Vesseur is the director. Collaborators are: Lore Machler (activist, young mother, BMC woman and ecologist) and Christoph Schumacher (musician and sound researcher)

BeYond- Im Tanz der Gegenwart, is an advanced training program with Wilma in Trogen 2024 – 2026 for graduates of “Tanz der Gegenwart” and for movers and dancers with similar experiences. The training course can be booked as a whole or per module

Moving BeYond is an artistic, exploratory and also spiritual examination of being in the body / being in the world. We want to move in such a way that the dance regulates us. The autonomic nervous system supports the voluntary nervous system. Sensing, feeling and humor (juice) bring us into flow. Not knowledge is validated and strengthened, embodiment of all body systems is practiced.

In Module V we explore how the endocrine glands harmonize and energize us in dance!

The music that inspires our dancing these days is characterized by passion: both passion and suffering.
Passion music by J.S. Bach and the B minor Mass, Stabat Mater parts, but also music by contemporary composers, crossover and world music.

Wilma’s choreographic and somatic instructions accompany you in your own and collective dancing.

In the 6th module we deal with the wisdom of the body: movement practice and touch work that strengthens the autonomic nervous system, which leads to release and resilience. Trust in the body allows us to create dance in the moment. When we relax the brain, allowing ourselves not to know, we are not so much practicing indifference, but surrendering to a deeper knowing.

Moving Agency is an artistic, exploratory and spiritual exploration. This somatic performance project deepens being in the body and at the same time being in the world.

This year is about ‘working’ and ‘performing’. Choreographic, creative interest, anchored in the body, connects interior and exterior spaces, one’s own and others, micro and macro spaces. Agency, the ability to act, the vocal aspects that lead to change are researched and developed.

The Moving Agency project is for dancers with a longer path in BeYond or the like.

Dancing to the music of J.S. Bach’s Mass in B minor?

Wilma’s impulses for movement open up a completely new and refreshing approach to this music, which may or may not be familiar to you. There will be choreographic instructions and dance scores that invite you to improvise and interpret them yourself. Space and time will be played with and used to bring our senses of hearing and movement into a dialog and to create dance.

In the 7th module we look at the body’s readiness. We learn ways to change the tone, gradually and ad hoc. The tone in the nervous system, but above all in the muscles. And how to find a balance with fascia and fat.

This module lasts almost a week and takes place in the Rosslisaal Trogen CH

The new dance labyrinth goes beyond the 2-dimensional labyrinth designed on the floor and follows the multidimensionality in body, mind, time and space. Vortex movements, as we find them in the heart, in the bones and in the fascial system, lead into pulsation, into the dynamics of the spiral and into the plumb line of stillness.
